Akins Early College High School started a new program called (PTECH): Education and Training for the 2020-2021 school year. Our goal is to accept 40-50 Incoming 9th-grade students who are highly motivated and ready to start an accelerated pathway to becoming Texas-certified teachers within 5-6 years (4 years of high school and 1-2 years of university) instead of going through the traditional track that takes 4 years of high school and 4 years of university.

The Early College High School program at Akins High School was established in the 2019-2020 school year as the school's 7th Academy (a school within a school model). It provides an opportunity for students to obtain a two-year transferable college degree while in high school at NO COST to the student or family. |

PLEASE NOTE: The PTECH programs @ Akins ECHS Academy are open to any student in Austin ISD and surrounding areas. At present, students in the Akins ECHS attendance zone will have priority for the General Studies pathway. For more information about the two PTECH programs, visit PTECH Real Estate or PTECH Teaching.
