Guitar Ensembles

Varsity Guitar

This ensemble is considered the premier classical guitar organization on campus. These students must be prepared to perform Level 6 and higher. This class is a continuation of Guitar II class. In past years, students have performed at various venues and competitions including:  UIL Solo and Ensemble; Concert and Sight Reading Competition, etc. Attendance at these functions are MANDATORY.  Guitar III/IV will have 1 or 2 additional rehearsals and performances outside of class.  

Non Varsity Guitar  

This classical guitar ensemble is the "holding ground" for Varsity Guitar. Students in this ensemble must understand alternations at a high level and have basic theory concepts memorized. In past years students have performed at various venues and competitions including:  UIL Solo and Ensemble; Concert and Sight Reading Competition, etc. in Austin, outside of the school day.  Attendance at these functions are MANDATORY. Additional rehearsals outside of class will be scheduled.

Intermediate Guitar II  

This classical guitar ensemble is a continuation of Guitar 1. Students in this ensemble must understand alternations at a high level and have basic theory concepts memorized. Students have the option to performed at various venues and competitions including:  UIL Solo and Ensemble; Concert and Sight Reading Competition, etc. in Austin, outside of the school day.  There are only 3 MANDATORY concerts with rehearsals a day or two before, they are Fall, Winter and Spring. There could also be required/mandatory performances held throughout the school year. Additional rehearsals outside of class will be scheduled

Beginning Guitar 1

This Guitar class is taught as a "Classical Guitar" Ensemble program.   Each student will learn in the areas of fundamental playing technique, hand positions, posture, and ensemble performance. Occasional sectionals and/or outside rehearsals are to be expected, and attendance is required. There are only 3 MANDATORY concerts with rehearsals a day or two before, they are Fall, Winter and Spring. There could also be required/mandatory performances held throughout the school year. No audition is required for this ensemble, but there will be a placement process at the beginning of the school year.
