Ms. Alex Vasquez

We are very proud of our new Teacher of the Year, Ms. Alex Vasquez for her dedication and commitment to her students and teaching excellence.  She is an outstanding role model who exudes compassion, positivity, and leadership.  She is originally from San Juan, Texas (Rio Grande Valley) and earned her Bachelor of Arts in English at UT Pan American University and a Master's in Reading Education from Texas State University.  Many other teachers aspire to be like her, especially because of her growth mindset and willingness to always be there when needed.  Ms. Vasquez has been an English teacher at Akins for more than 5 years and in the Early College Program for 3 years.    We are so proud of all your hard work!!!

Stephanie Haynes, Biology Teacher!!!!!!!!!!

Congrats to this amazing educator! Stephanie is incredibly passionate, talented, and constantly goes the extra mile for our students. She embodies a growth mindset by consistently taking feedback and putting it into practice. You would never believe she is a first year teacher! We are lucky to have her!  She goes above and beyond the call of duty by tutoring after-school for Homework Haven in the library Monday through Thursday.
