2018-2019 Teacher of the Year & Teacher of Promise

Brook Maudin

2018-2019

AKINS HIGH SCHOOL
TEACHER OF THE YEAR

(Teacher of the Year is voted by the entire campus; Must have a minimum of 3 years at the campus)

Brooke Maudlin graduated from the University of Texas at Austin with a Bachelor of Science degree in Radio-TV-Film. She applied her knowledge of digital media production and journalism by mentoring girls in after-school clubs for Latinitas. This sparked her desire to become a classroom teacher. She attended graduate school at St. Edward’s University where she continued learning Spanish and pursued a teaching certification in Spanish. Working with the Spanish speaking community has always been a passion and Akins High School has been a perfect fit for Ms. Maudlin for the past seven years. When she’s not teaching Spanish 1, 2, and 3 she is sponsoring student trips abroad, hosting Spanish Club, and serving as the PTSA President at Akins High School.
