AKINS HIGH SCHOOL TEACHER OF THE YEAR

 

 

 

(Teacher of the Year is voted by the entire campus; Must have a minimum of 3 years at the campus)

David Doerr has taught Journalism and Graphic Design classes at Akins Early College High School for the last 10 years. He is the adviser of The Eagle's Eye, the Akins student newspaper, and the faculty sponsor of the E4 Youth Get Creative Club. Doerr works to promote student voice and provide students with opportunities to prepare for careers in creative industries before graduating from high school.

Kyle Monk is a proud graduate from The University of Texas with degrees in both Radio-Television-Film and Advertising. After working in the world of advertising, Mr. Monk decided to pursue his passion and found his dream job as Film Teacher within the Arts & Humanities Academy at Akins ECHS. Mr. Monk could not be more grateful for the administration, staff, and students that he has the honor of working with every day. Mr. Monk firmly believes that saying Akins is special is an understatement and could not be happier to call the campus home!
