Tour & Site Visits

Because Akins Early College High School exemplifies the true spirit and purpose of effective Smaller Learning Communities (SLCs), there have been several studies completed by SREB.  We are open to showcasing our career-based SLCs.  For the last few years, we have had many site visits by school districts and schools planning on implementing SLCs and/or career-based academies at their schools.  For those who would like to visit Akins High School to take a closer look at effective SLCs or career-based academies, please contact Principal Michael Herbin at michael.herbin@austinisd.org.

You may also contact Academy Coordinator Juan Martinez @ juan.martinez-esqueda@austinisd.org  (Contact us for details on site visit fees/logistics).

Logistics:  Usually, the site visit is from 9 a.m.–3:30 p.m.  Arrangements need to be made at least 2 weeks or more in advance.
