In the Civil Engineering and Architecture pathway, students learn important aspects of building, site design, and development.

As students explore architectural design, they
- Apply math, science, and standard engineering practices to design residential and commercial projects
- Build scale models of structures such as houses and bridges
- Document their work using the 3D architecture design software AutoDesk Rivet
Students now have the opportunity to participate in our new Green Building Internship! Students in this internship learn the fundamentals behind sustainable building practices such as water conservation and energy efficiency. In the 2019-2020 school year students worked with local Austin architecture firm BLGY as they redesigned and constructed nearby Blaizer Elementary. Internship students explore EcoRise lessons and they have a key role in Blaizer's redesign visiting BLGY's office and the construction site weekly. Each spring internship students have the opportunity to earn a LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) credential. Developed by the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC), LEED provides building owners and operators with a framework for identifying and implementing practical and measurable green building design, construction, operations, and maintenance solutions. LEED is an internationally recognized certification for architects and buildings alike. You'll notice buildings becoming LEED certified all over Austin!
