College Entrance Exams
Registration is completed ONLINE through the SAT website or the ACT website.
The CCC can assist students with this process. Payment is made online via credit or debit card and is required to complete registration. Students who qualify for free/reduced lunch may qualify for fee waivers for these tests. For more information about test fee waivers please visit the CCC.

SAT Information
If you feel that you should qualify for a fee waiver please contact Ms. Wilkins to verify. She will issue a code to you that will cover the cost of two exams, the essay portion, an unlimited number of college application fee waivers to schools that accept them from College Board.
SAT Fees
- The registration fee is $49.50
- Adding the essay is an additional $15.00 ***
- Fee for changing test site or test date is $28.00
- Fee for registering during the late registration period is $28.00
***Make sure to register for the Writing PLUS option! Many schools require this! (Brings total registration to $64.50) Be sure to select four schools you wish to send your scores to when registering; if you do not select 4 schools, you will have to pay per school to send them after your test scores are in.

Preparing for the SAT
To study for the SAT we recommend using Khan Academy. After linking your Khan Academy account with your college board account you will receive a customized study plan based on your most recent SAT or PSAT scores. Studying using this platform will also make you eligible to participate in the College Board Opportunity Scholarships.
ACT Information
ACT is not offered at Akins until further notice
If you feel that you should qualify for a fee waiver please contact Ms. Wilkins to verify. She will issue a code to you that will cover the cost of registration and late fees for the exam with and without the essay, up to 3 subject retests, one score report send to Akins, and six colleges of your choice at the time of registration plus unlimited after the exam, and free access to The Official ACT Self-Paced Course, powered by Kaplan.

Test-Optional
Do research to find out if the schools and programs you will be applying to are planning on being test-optional. The CCC has created an Assured Admissions spreadsheet that is updated regularly and includes test-optional information for each campus. Keep in mind that any university practicing test-optional for admissions does not necessarily mean the scholarships or every major on the given campus will be test-optional. Use this as a guide as you decide whether or not to take the test.
