Academic Incentive FAQ:
- If a student is not present on the day of the final exam, the student forfeits their incentive for that class and the student will receive a zero for the final exam.
- Semester academic incentives are earned class by class.
- If a student earns an academic incentive and chooses against applying their final exam grade to their semester average, the teacher will enter the student’s cumulative semester average as their final exam grade.
- Saturday School & Homework Haven “seat time” does not count towards improving the student’s attendance for this incentive.
- All students are required to be present on the day of and complete the final exam.
- The student is responsible for filling out the academic incentive application form* and submitting it to their teacher by the due date.
- Any student who would like to appeal this policy, such as in the case of a disability, should contact their Assistant Principal.
The purpose of the Akins Attendance Incentive Policy is to encourage students to be engaged in their learning! Although this has been a difficult semester for many students, there are some that have managed to successfully navigate through the process and that is to be commended! Many will not be eligible this semester, but for those who are this can be a nice way to end the semester! Please begin talking with your classes about this policy and about final exams for your courses.
