FFA (Agriculture Leadership Organization)

This organization makes a positive difference in the lives of students by developing their potential for premier leadership, personal growth and career success through agricultural education. Students whose lives are impacted by FFA and agricultural education will achieve academic and personal growth, strengthen American agriculture and provide leadership to build healthy local communities, a strong nation and a sustainable world.

Akins FFA is an after-school program that allows students to purchase and raise a sheep, goat, hog, rabbits, chickens, or steers to show at the local stock shows in Texas. Also it gives the students the opportunity to work in the plant industry with our greenhouse facility on campus.

Participating students in the animal industry are encouraged to house their animals at our school farm where they will come to the school barn in the mornings and afternoons to feed and care for their animals–including weekends! FFA teaches students not only the responsibility of caring for an animal or plants, but also teamwork and leadership. It also gives students the opportunity to learn industry knowledge and skills. We provide students with the opportunity to participate in both leadership and career development events.
