"What is Work-based Learning?": Work-based Learning Experiences are a part of the students' learning experiences. Students in the Early College programs can experience hands-on and job-related lessons. Students in the Early College programs at Akins ECHS have visited construction sites (including housing projects and new schools), mini-conferences and workshops with our partner (Austin Board of Realtors), and hybrid lessons with industry experts. Students have attended problem-solving sessions, discussions, and panels related to the many aspects of the real estate program. Focusing on skills-based learning, students reflect on their observations, ask questions about changes in the industry, and complete projects describing what they learn and how it applies to their futures. Our partners, ABoR and ACC, work with students to prepare them for college, careers, and beyond.
