Join us as we celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month, observed September 15 through October 15! Our celebration will culminate with Multilingual Night on October 15. This month honors the rich cultures, histories, achievements, and contributions of Hispanic and Latino communities including the inspiring people here at Akins.
Throughout the month, our students will spotlight Hispanic and Latino individuals whose contributions have made a difference in education, art, literature, science, sports, and beyond. Students will also be reaching out to members of our Akins community for brief interviews to highlight your stories, heritage, and accomplishments. Participation is completely optional, but we hope you will welcome this opportunity to connect with our students. Your story could inspire a future generation!
Our celebration will culminate with Multilingual Night on October 15, bringing our community together to celebrate the languages, cultures, and traditions that enrich Akins. During this special evening, we will recognize students, a custodian, a cafeteria worker, a teacher, a counselor, an administrator, and members of our community for their contributions.
We invite you to join our Multilingual Night organizing committee! Your ideas, creativity, and support can help make this a meaningful and memorable celebration. If you would like to help plan the event, please contact me, Beatriz Valle-Moreno at beatriz.valle-moreno@austinisd.org.
Thank you for helping our students feel seen, valued, and proud of who they are. Together, we can celebrate our heritage and strengthen the connections within our Eagle family.
¡Celebremos juntos! Let’s celebrate together, Eagles!
